Gallery in the Garden: Far and Away
At Sherway Gardens until June 26, 2010

Sherway Gardens’ current Gallery in the Garden exhibit entitled Far and Away presents artworks incorporating bold colours, expressionistic landscapes, and stylistic surfaces. Mississauga artist Susan Bush Donati was born and raised in Montreal where she was influenced at an early age by other artists in her family. Beginning at age four, Susan started painting and sculpting and would eventually adopt oil painting as her primary artistic median. Susan has painted a variety of subjects ranging from portraits, to landscapes and cityscapes. Through her travels and life experiences, Susan has drawn inspiration from people and places, which she captures through her artistic style that blends realism and symbolism.

“My interests are piqued by things I see every day. Not necessarily the item itself, but the impression it gives me and then I express what I saw on my terms," states Susan. "As an impressionist artist with an addiction to vibrant colour, my goal is to engage your senses so you can see life as I do."

Etobicoke-based artist Renée Norris Middleton has painted for the last ten years as a member of the Neilson Park Creative Centre. Her initial experience as a painter was gained under other watercolourists such as: Pauline Holancin, Margaret Roseman, Linda Kemp, Elizabeth Gibson and Art Cunanun. Renée then proceeded to work in acrylics with artists Steve Rose, John Leonard and Denis Cliff.

Renee’s work has been on display at numerous non-juried and juried shows at the Neilson Park Creative Centre and Etobicoke Civic Centre, as well as being shown at a number of gallery shows in and around Toronto at venues such as: Bemused in Clarksburg and currently at the McMichael Canadian Collection in Kleinburg.
