Gallery in the Garden: In The Details Paintings by Jennifer Barolet and David Bottoni at
Sherway Gardens until October 22

Sherway Gardens' current Gallery in the Garden exhibit entitled In The Details is a display of artistic realism by artists Jennifer Barolet and David Bottoni, who engage the viewer by giving edited and precise images that are otherwise familiar a new view that both intrigues and puzzles the eye. The exhibit is only on display until Saturday, October 22 in the corridor 3.


Jennifer Barolet has always had a passion for art. She grew up in the country and started drawing at an early age and continued to study and create art throughout her teens. She is a self taught artist and is a current member of Visual Arts Mississauga and Neilson Park Creative Centre.

David Bottoni discovered his artistic talent in high school where he received a basic introduction to art and art history. Many years of self study, experimentation, working as a graphic artist in the sign industry and receiving some mentorship with high profile artists, David has honed his artistic skills to create a visual reflection of his life. His style is best described as contemporary realism and photorealism.

My Waterfront Photo Exhibit presented by Redpath Sugar Launches with Artist Preview Gala on September 30 Public Gallery in Queen's Quay Terminal October 1-10

See the beauty of Toronto’s Waterfront through the eyes of a photographer at the My Waterfront Photo Exhibit presented by Redpath Sugar on display in Queen’s Quay Terminal (207 Queens Quay West) from October 1-10. The exhibit showcases images from the 50 winning finalists of the My Waterfront Photo Contest and launches on Friday, September 30 from 6-8pm with an Artist Preview Gala in Queen’s Quay Terminal to honour the finalists.

Amateur photographers submitted their original photos to the My Waterfront Photo Contest in the summer for a chance to be featured in the My Waterfront Photo Exhibit. Photos were posted online where viewers could vote on their favourite pictures. All entries were judged on overall impact, artistic merit, composition and technical excellence.

The panel of judges consists of: Don Shipley, the Creative Advisor for the Pan Am Games Toronto 2015; Julian Sleath, the Programming Manager of Special Events, Economic Development & Culture with the City of Toronto; Patrick Macaulay the Head of Visual Arts at Harbourfront Centre, Richard Bell the Executive Director of Niagara School of imaging and Ron Hartwell, Associate Photo Editor at the National Post.

Celebrity Designer Sabrina Linn Transforms a Master Bedroom using Fashion from H&M as her Inspiration Visit Runway to Room at Toronto’s Fall Home Show - September 22-25

Sabrina Linn is a boutique style design firm specializing in residential interior design and much of her work involves custom designed pieces, ensuring that her clients’ homes get her signature touch from custom sofas, upholstery, drapes and pillows. She has worked “behing-the-scenes” in TV creating many of the designs that can be seen on popular HGTV design shows such as, Home To Flip and Style Dept. She also worked for Canadian House and Home Magazine as a Design Editor for three years. Sabrina is best known for her fresh and modern approach to design, bringing a finely tuned level of polish and attention to detail to each new project.

Sabrina will be designing a fashion inspired Master Bedroom Suite influenced by the clean and elegant way of dress of the Swinging 60’s and 70’s. The room will feature a sophisticated colour palette, incorporating dressmaker details and mix and match patterns that were prominent in that fashion era. She hope the design will inspire people to re-introduce richness and luxury back into a room that is often kept spare, transforming it into a Master retreat.

The palette’s she will be using are fuchsia, navy blue, jade green, off white with accents of burnished gold.

Using the latest fashion trends to drive and influence home décor, celebrity designers Ramsin Khachi, Glen Peloso and Sabrina Linn share their creative concepts by completely designing a room from top to bottom as part of the Runway to Room feature at the Toronto Fall Home Show.

Rooms will be on display from Thursday, September 22 through Sunday, September 25 at the Better Living Centre, Exhibition Place. Each designer took their inspiration from a fall fashion trend created by stylist Ji-Yun Timperon using an outfit from H&M and drew upon the colours and patterns of the outfit to add accents and personality to the rooms. On a high rise platform outside the rooms, mannequins modeling the outfits that helped inspire their creations will be in the spotlight.

Ramsin’s theme is Seeing Spots; he will make over a Lounge area by using patterns and colours. Glen will create a Dining Room by using retro styles of the past to create a Mod Men themed room. Sabrina will transform a Master Bedroom to replicate the 60s and 70s by using the Swinging Sixties & Seventies theme.

There are three moderated panels where each designer will share the design concepts and fashion inspirations behind their Runway to Room designs on the Style At Home Main Stage. Designers will be available in their individual spaces following the panel and Q&A session.
